To fulfill their Safeguarding responsibilities it is likely staff will need some e-safety skills training if only to recognise incidents and report them efficiently. Many organisations have elected to provide level 2 safeguarding training for a staff. LSIS have added an e-safety module to their Safeguarding course on the Excellence Gateway. An eSafety module has been added to the LSIS Safeguarding online course for staff  and there are the options listed below:  

 

EDI level 1 and 2 qualifications in eResponsibility in Education http://www.ediplc.com/Qualifications_Search.asp

 

The British Computer Society (BCS) have developed a QCF accredited level 1 Award in E-Safety with 4 units; covering Benefits and Risks, Reporting and Responding to issues, Protecting yourself and your computer online and Legal issues.

 

CEOP (Child Explotation and Online protection) offer certificated awareness training and 'ambassador' training for those who will be training others. The content is mainly focused on school age children at this atge though specific age related resources are expected to follo soon. CEOP have a website called ThinkYouKnow  that provides age-targetted resources including some with British Sign Language video for teachers who have been on their training programme.

 

EPICT (European Pedagogical ICT Training) offer a certificated award in e-Safety as part of their programme.

SQA have developed a qualification: Internet Safety. The Unit is designed to enable candidates to make safe and legal use of the Internet. The Unit will provide candidates with information about the safety factors and legal considerations which need to be taken into account when using the Internet, and give candidates practical experience in taking safety precautions and operating within legal constraints. The contents of this Unit include dealing with unwanted e-mail, protecting against identity theft, and protecting systems against viruses and other threats. This free-standing Unit is suitable for a wide range of candidates and is particularly appropriate for young people, parents and mature Internet users but would be of interest to practising teachers and librarians who want to know more about the potential dangers facing learners. The unit includes teaching and learning materials for teacher-led delivery or for learners to work thorugh on thier own. Delivery can be completely online including assessment.
