JISC Regional Support Centres offer advice and support in developing and implementing good practice and appropriate procedures for providers across the sector. The RSC in your region will be able to support your organisation directly to make good use of this online resource as a strategic tool. They will also be able to offer both strategic and practical support and respond to specific sector and regional issues through:

  • Workshops on e-responsible behaviours

  • Help in assessing your e-safety practice

  • Formal and informal CPD opportunities

  • Guidance on using this online resource strategically

Here we have brought together the best resources for raising awareness and planning e-safety which will support a range of roles across the sector. They include resources for self-assessing personal and organisational risk, raising awareness and skills with learners and staff as well as advice on meeting legal and inspection requirements. Many of the resources have originated in the schools sector and some have been specifically adapted for use in FE like the Becta: Safeguarding Learners in a Digital World resources Others will need further development based on your own experience and provision. Providers in Work-based Learning and Adult and Community Learning will find the links to DirectGov local government resources  relevant and should begin by making contact with their Local Authority Safeguarding Boards (LASB) for specific advice. There is a section on safeguarding best practice on the Excellence Gateway which includes examples of good practice and resources from across the sector. The SWGfL online e-safety planner will assist you in looking at the risks for your organisation no matter how small. Specialist Colleges may have something to contribute to the disability specific resources being developed by JISC TechDis which will support Independent Specialist College's and mainstream provision for vulnerable learners. JISC have highlighted 6 resources specifically to help combat cybercrime which we have explored in more detail on the legal section of this website.

The SaferInternet Helpline was set up to support Professionals working with children and young people. They aim to resolve issues professionals face about themselves, such as protecting professional identity, and also about young people in relation to online safety.
